Tenancy Agreements
A tenancy agreement is a contract between a tenant and a landlord; it should clearly set out what is expected of each party. Whether you are a landlord or a tenant, a robust tenancy agreement will highlight your rights and responsibilities and should help both parties to maintain a positive relationship.
In addition to the tenancy agreement, landlords are legally entitled to request a deposit prior to letting a property. This provides security to the landlord and is returned to the tenant at the end of the lease, providing the terms set out in the agreement have been met. Landlords are now legally required to place deposits in a government-backed tenancy deposit scheme.
