Joining the ranks of Lexcel accredited solicitors
At Wilkinson Woodward, we are committed to providing the highest standards of legal advice, client care and professional service.
We are therefore proud to announce that we have achieved Lexcel accreditation, the Law Society’s recognised quality mark for excellence in legal practice management and client care.
Fewer than 20% of law firms in England and Wales regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) have achieved Lexcel accreditation, making it a recognised mark of excellence within the legal profession and a clear demonstration of a firm’s commitment to best practice.
For us, achieving this significant milestone reflects our team’s ongoing commitment to delivering a high-quality service to clients across Halifax, Huddersfield, Brighouse and the wider West Yorkshire region.
What it means for clients
The assessment process for Lexcel accreditation is rigorous and requires firms to demonstrate that they meet high standards across every aspect of their operations. It sets the benchmark for everything from client care and compliance to financial, information, and case management.
While many of these functions sit behind the scenes, they have a direct impact on ensuring matters are handled efficiently, communication is clear, and clients receive consistent, high-quality service.
The result is a better experience for clients and greater confidence that their matter is being handled to recognised industry standards.
Achieving accreditation
Obtaining Lexcel accreditation is a significant undertaking and requires commitment from every part of a firm.
The project was led by our Risk and Compliance Manager Clare Ashby, who joined the firm in April 2025 with the primary objective of securing Lexcel accreditation. Drawing on more than a decade’s experience of obtaining and maintaining the accreditation at previous firms, she worked closely with colleagues across the business to prepare for the rigorous assessment process.
Clare said: “I have over 12 years’ experience of obtaining and maintaining Lexcel accreditation and have seen the benefits that can come from not only gaining the accreditation, but by taking on board best practice recommendations supplied by the independent auditor.
“Achieving accreditation reflects the hard work and commitment of the entire Wilkinson Woodward team and demonstrates a shared dedication to delivering excellent service and continually improving the way we work. Although the process was complex and demanding, the support from the directors and staff throughout the process was fantastic.”
While achieving Lexcel accreditation is an important milestone, it is not the end of the process. The accreditation requires annual independent assessments and ongoing monitoring to ensure standards continue to be met and improved upon.
By continually reviewing our processes, embracing best practice and maintaining the high standards required, we can continue to provide our clients with the level of service they expect and deserve.
