Meet the amazing team behind Overgate Hospice
We’ve been part of our community for over 130 years and are proud to support some very important local charities who work for the communities of Calderdale and Kirklees.
In the run up to Christmas, we decided to devote our blog to highlighting the work of four amazing charities we are proud to support. This week, we're giving a huge pre-Christmas "High Five" to Overgate Hospice.
Established in the early 1980s, Overgate provides specialist care for local people living with a life limiting illness. The hospice operates as an independent charity and their dedicated team of nurses,staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure patients and those close to them live with the best possible quality of life.
Overgate runs 13 shops throughout Calderdale and our Director and Commercial Property specialist Andrew Crabtree handles all the legal aspects associated with the hospice's properties on a voluntary basis. This includes supporting the negotiation, preparation and completion of leases as well as end-of-lease negotiations, lease renewals and Landlord and Tenant Act notices.
Overgate Hospice costs £3.5 million to run each year. The Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group contribute towards this amount, however £2.5 million is raised through the support of the Calderdale community - in fact the hospice is a powerful reminder of the generosity of the people of Calderdale.
