Alexis’ first legal role was as a Reporter to the Children’s Panel in Scotland where she received, investigated and assessed referrals on all children in need of care and protection.
Alexis moved to Yorkshire in the 1980s and, for the past two decades, she has developed her reputation as a family mediator. Alexis is qualified to offer child inclusive mediation, allowing children a voice regarding future arrangements. Over the years Alexis has helped almost a hundred children in this way.
Alexis is an accredited mediator with the Family Mediation Council and is qualified to work with all clients and to assess for Legal Aid. She has also attained Senior Mediator Status with the Family Mediators Association – an advanced qualification for highly experienced family mediators. As a Board member of The Family Mediators Association, Alexis is part of a team responsible for shaping and agreeing policies for the development of the mediation profession.
Since her early days as a mediator in Yorkshire, Alexis has developed her expertise and capability to include working directly with children, dealing with finances and to work as a Professional Practice Consultant, a role in which she supervises other mediators.
Alexis is married with children and lives in Kirklees, where she and her husband enjoy endless opportunities to indulge their joint passion for music concerts and the theatre.
Alexis joined us in 2006 and is based at our Huddersfield office.
