Labour announces plans to tackle "rogue" employment agencies

Ed Miliband MP recently announced that the Labour Party would make changes to the law on employment agencies, if it is elected. He believes that the number of "rogue" employment agencies has increased in recent years and that such agencies do not pay the national minimum wage, undercutting the wages of permanent employees.

Labour claims that its plans would include banning overseas-only recruitment and introducing measures to improve "rogue" agencies. Mr Miliband suggested one way to achieve this could be through the introduction of a "licensing system" to ensure agencies comply with certain standards.
