Mediate don’t litigate

How it works

Our Mediators will help you in an impartial way, find your own solutions to the issues that arise following break ups.

Mediation is an alternative to resolving issues through Court, it can help you improve communication, help encourage co-operation and reduce the stress of separation and divorce.

Whilst mediation is not a substitute for legal advice and we will usually recommend that you obtain legal advice alongside the mediation process we are able to provide general legal information within the mediation if this is appropriate to help you make your own informed decisions.

Most couples feel mediation enables them to put forward their point of view and concerns in an effective manner and in particular when children are involved helps parents to settle arrangements amicably for children post separation.

How much does mediation cost?

We are able to provide legal aided family mediation depending on your financial circumstances.   We undertake a full assessment for legal aid for parties at an initial mediation information and assessment meeting (MIAM).

Otherwise fees for privately paying parties are calculated on an hourly rate.

How long does it take ?

Successful mediation generally takes between two and four sessions.

What if mediation breaks down?

Research shows that 80% of couples who saw a mediator reached some agreement and most were satisfied with the outcome.

However Courts usually require parties to attempt mediation before making an application to Court.
